Well, well, well. A year and a half after the ‘revelation’ I finally did the update that this bathroom always wanted – wallpaper, and it looks so good that even my children noticed and did everything to tell me! There is nothing sweeter than your 11-year-old son who says: “Mama, I love the wallpaper” before you even have time to point out. I always knew that this bathroom wallpaper wanted above the tile and trim, but I had to shoot it and I hadn’t found the right paper. It was still beautiful in advance, but now it’s just so much better.
For wallpaper

This is how we shot it down in August 2023, it remained the same for the most part. The art fell off the tile (stupid command smoking), but otherwise it was sweet and worked. So I kept my attention to the perfect pattern and colorway …
Choose the right paper

I fell in love with a few of these from Graham & Brown, ordered some samples and was pleased that there were many that I loved.

Left: Ruskin (green) Middle: Folklore Tree (blue) | Right: Folklore Tree (Sage)
Although the middle blue looks so powerful on the camera (and I think I might be a stories about stories?), I went with the green colorway on the right that has blue in it, so that it felt a bit timeless and less saturated, I think? I think the intense color on top with the green tile might have been too much, while the green clearly spoke to the floor, more in harmony.
The unveiling

Folklore Tree (Sage)
I think it’s great. The “wood” of the branches speaks to the warmer tones in the room (such as the vanity and the golden fixtures) and the green and blue work so good with the green tiles and blue accents (such as the curtains and the vintage dog painting).

I think it is great that the Green Vintage Lightmatmature still appears nicely without getting lost. And while I was open to changing the curtains (I mean, it was just yardage that I was iron and hung) I think this is so fun and cute. The colors are great together and the scale of the Grote Gingham is so beautifully compensated with the organic movement of the wallpaper pattern.

The bathroom just feels so much more, as if it was always meant to be like that.

The only thing I still debate are: Do I add cornice? My typical answer would be yes, but outside the niche of the bathtub it would only be a small piece. But you could skip the list on that front part (maybe, maybe not sure) and just do the circumference of the room … I can also add café curtains if I find the right pattern, but I am not very motivated to continue to exist. As sure, it can look cute, but a lot is happening – we may have touched our quirky quota.

It is a different box checked and only 3 years after we have moved, of which I don’t think it is so bad. I actually like to add these layers in a slower (and less stressful way).

It is just so happy and feels suitable for the house (Scandinavian farm vibes ftw). The organic nature also contrasts well with the tile. With the edge of the green floor/wall tile that looks like grass and the wallpaper that is clearly a forest, we have a fully executed theme here 🙂 What do you think?
