Have a nice Sunday everyone! We still stare alone at the photos of the River House Loger Logerkamer. Together we all considered painting our room a moody pink after we saw the recordings. Apart from that, we are plenty of steam for more projects, even a nice shoot that em comes to LA for this coming week 🙂 It will be a wild one! Until then, here are the links of this week …
This week’s home trip is a Washington DC Brownstone from the 1920s that gets Glamor and Eclecticness perfectly. EHD favorite, Zoe Feldman, also designs the most inspiring houses that are just as livable, so it was no surprise that this gem also belonged to her. Go see it here!
From Emily: some solid weekend -entertainment suggestions – next to the obvious, White lotus Season 3, (I have not started yet) I flew on and could not stop thinking Apple cider vinegar. I remember both cases (fictional for TV but certainly based on true story) -a influencer who falsified brain cancer and became a wellness -influencer, and another who chose alternative medicine (and also became a wellness -influencer). It was the years 2010 and it was (and still is) a wild ride in this industry – but boy is hard to stop thinking. TW: It’s a lot about cancer and can be disturbing, so be careful if it feels too close to home. Acting, directing, writing – it’s all so good. I found it challenging – especially because I am such a fool for the latest “snake oil” that tries to push the wellness industry on me and psychology about fictional disorders (wild things). I just couldn’t stop thinking about this show (and very entertaining).
But even more important, if you haven’t seen it In heightCan I introduce a solid watch? We are here huge Lin Manuel Miranda -fans (Encanto, Moanaand of course, Hamilton) and his film from 2021 based on his Tony Winning Play Set in Washington Heights in 2001 is so incredibly good. We watched it a few times during the Lockdown, but just again with the children and I was reminded of how good it is (above that with Paddington 2 And Wonka Imho). The music is incredible, the story is clearly so good, the acting is great (so many Hamilton cameras!) It is culturally important and the direction/production simply feels like a fantastic enormous performance. The texts move quickly (like all his work), so feel free to set up subtitles to help follow. So if you are looking for a family -friendly musical movie to watch this weekend, look In height (Our children are 9 and 11 and it has some curses and some suggest things, but in general we thought it was completely appropriate – and oh well, they looked it at 6 and 8 and thought it was great at the time).

Fariha Nasir is such an incredibly talented designer and do it -self -queen (have you seen her show Problem spaces) ?? So when we heard that she had a wallpaper collection with hunting paper, we couldn’t wait to see.

There is a bit of blurb about her process here – “I have been working on this for more than a year and my goal was to market a block print collection with authenticity and nuance. I sketched, painted and worked with a South Asian surface designer to put this together. “It is so nice to think back to look at this bathroom make -over that she did where she painted her own wall pattern and it was clearly part of her design process! Unnecessary to say that this is a deep personal collection and as the photos show, an incredibly beautiful one. Check them all here!
Van Marlee: Let me share one of the greatest culinary creations with you that I have ever discovered – Nutbutters. They have a lot of super nice flavors that sound super sweet, but no sugar has been added – my favorite is coconut kardom with chia seeds, but cinnamon snickerdoodle gets an honorable mention! It is great on toast, ice cream, a yogurt bowl, with a banana, in itself … something about this product just does it for me. It is not only incredibly tasty, but the company is local for PDX, women’s ownership and partners with local non-profit organizations to offer work opportunities and job training to women who overcome adversity in Portland Area. Big fan all around. I usually grab them in New Seasons (a supermarket in Portland), but they can be found in stores everywhere (view their store locator). If you want to improve your nut butter game (no sense I had ever thought, I would say) and support a great small company, you have to view them 100%.
Van Caitlin: When I saw this piece on Dwell entitled ‘Is Gofundme the new insurance?“I can’t say that I chewed on the piece to read an intoxicating piece about crowdfunding. But when the piece later appeared in my e -mail, I gave it a chance – and I am so happy that I did that. Field through the lens of the LA fires, investigating why insurance is often not the security that it is promised to be and how we came to fill the holes ourselves … often unfair. Safe to say, it is a must-read for any policy woners (guilty as accused) or homeowners who are happy to be prepared in the case of a natural disaster (do you have enough “depth” or “width” to help you rebuild?). I promise it, it’s a fascinating lecture !!!
Van Mallory: It is not often that I give a food reconcilor here, but have you ever heard of Aaron Franklin? BBQ Legend-Dus When I was in Austin last weekend, he was his BBQ spot on a must-do (and was honestly a big point of the trip). But the line is known as 4-6 hours on the daily, so I’m going to drop the hottest tip for all of you if you are in Austin soon or visit soon: they do pick-up orders so that you can skip the line !! But there is a reservation – you have to order 5 pounds of meat lol. So to hit the minimum, we ordered our lunch and then ordered a cooled breast to go (and yes, we have taken a breast through TSA and on an airplane over ice) and we will have a dinner with it. So your question is probably … was it all worth it? Absolute. My expectations were so high and they were immediately exceeded. Franklin’s is really the best BBQ -Jullie.
Van Jess: OK, so I wanted to wait for my Dr. Dennis Gross Red (and blue) Light face mask recommended because it is not cheap and it is not the kind of things with which you immediately see results. But now the time has come. I have been using it very consistently for 3 months (almost every day) and I really feel that my skin looks great. My best friend even told me that she has noticed, which frankly might be one of the biggest compliments, well, at least for me, if I have worked hard on it 🙂 I will say that I have been really consistent with my vitamin C -Serum in the AM and my retinol in the PM. Like everything, consistency is the key and I did it before I started the mask. The mask is automatically switched off after 3 minutes, so it really doesn’t take much time, is wireless, so you can move and you have the option of red light, blue light or a combination (red is more for collagen production, while blue is more for acne). My friend also has one and she also uses it on her neck and at the top of her head. This little man is versatile, but for Fyi, you will scare your family if you wear it for fun. Good. Keep them sharp!
From: Arlyn: I think now that I am 40, my brain is busy with questions such as “I get enough daily fibers?” (I’m not a joke). I have been working with a dietician since last fall, and although I eat reasonably well with tons of fruit, vegetables and full grains, I still have trouble achieving my goal. (For the record, the recommended daily intake is 25 grams for women and 35 grams for men, but most of us only get 10-15 grams.) I will calculate a whole meal because I think it was a fiber-home run, and it became something like 3 grams of fiber. What on earth. It is so much harder than I ever thought. Enter my new cheat code: Olipop! You, I am not a soda drinker, and I can’t stand the taste of Stevia, but these olipops are actually pretty tasty and have 9 grams of fiber in every can. Nine grams! They have their own mix of carrot vegetables, but it just tastes like a bubble treat. So far, Orange Crush and Cherry Cola have been my favorites, but I am excited to explore more flavors. View their site to see where they are brought near you! (And if you have other fiber cheese codes that are not supplements, leave in the comments.)
Van Gretchen: I recently got out of my face lotion and decided to switch it to a brand that I keep seeing everywhere – not. To be completely transparent, the branding and nice, clear package is what initially attracted me, but the reviews were also promising and I have to say, I am now also a fan! I have tried the moisturizing rich cream, which is supplied in this cute and funky rectangular, purple bottle, and it works so well! I really feel it feels hydrated all day and I think it’s great how smoothly it goes. Does not feel sticky at all and I even started a bit with my foundation, after I have already bothered, because I like how well it fits into my skin. I definitely want to try more of their products, and after a little research, I discovered that you can actually do a fast skin analysis test on their website to help you decide which products are suitable for you! After I have seen my results, I think I will also try the moisturizing recovery oil at night.
Thank you very much for reading and see you tomorrow for a pretty exciting unveiling/update!
