Daredevil: Born Again is one of the most expected TV series of 2025, which continues the sandy story of the Netflix original.
Matt Murdock will put on the iconic suit again as he gets a new threat – although his former enemy, Wilson Fisk, is still in the picture. If earlier actions of the Kingpin are something to enter into, his new role cannot be good news.

Which Marvel series and films do I have to watch to understand Daredevil: Born Again?
The two most important signs in this show are Matt Murdock/Daredevil and Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. That is why Marvel will see and films in which these two characters appear will be useful for referred story lines:
- Daredevil Seasons 1-2 (2015/2016)
- The Defenders (2017)
- Daredevil season 3 (2018)
- Punisher Seasons 1-2 (2017/2019)
- Hawkeye (2021)
- Spider-Man: no way home-first 10 minutes, video linked below (2021)
- SHE-HULK episodes 8 and 9-2022

That is quite a bit of content, so let’s split it into a list of importance.
The original Daredevil series (seasons 1 to 3) is by far the most important thing on this list. It tells the origin story of the Vigilante and brings Fisk’s turnout in Hell’s Kitchen and further.
It also introduces both Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, the two partners in the law firm of Matt – this is confirmed by set photos. Born Again is not a reboot of this Netflix show, it is a continuation. In essence, season four.
Marvel 2024 / Giovanni Rufino
Daredevil is also generally considered to be one of the best Marvel properties ever, so you will not regret having taken the time to view it.
The rest on this list is not so necessary for new viewers. However, they contain performances by cast members and suddenly contain what can be referred to in the series, although how important they are is not clear until it is broadcast.
The defenders connect the story of Matt between seasons 2 and 3 of Daredevil, but you can get by reading a sudden society if you are inadequate. Daredevil season 3 is then placed in the list – the last season Dex/Bullseye, which will also occur in Born Again.
Punisher makes the list because Frank Castle has been confirmed to appear in the series. However, we have no idea how relevant will be in the new show. His origin story is also detailed in Daredevil season 2, so you shouldn’t miss too much if you don’t look at this.
Wilson Fisk is Hawkeye’s villain, which is now underground. He only appears physically in episodes 5 and 6, and he is very different from what you will see in the Netflix series. However, if you want to get an idea of his filthy beginning, and you intend to view Echo, this is worth your time.
The majority of Spider-Man: No Way Home is not essential for this film, but the first 10 minutes have an appearance by Matt Murdock, which is hired as Peter’s lawyer. Sony has published the scene for free on YouTube, so you can see this below (the entrance to Matt is time stamp):
It is worth noting that Matt should not remember who Peter is because of the end of this film. That said, it is included in this list because Wilson Fisk was originally a Spider-Man-Schurk in the comics. That is why there is speculation that Daredevil: Born Again will lay the foundation for Spider-Man 4, which is under development.
Matt also appears in episode 8 (and some of 9) from She-Hulk, in his daring suit. Showrunner Dario Scardapane has already confirmed that these events are not referred to in Born Rouge, but you can still give it a watch if you want to get entangled.
Echo is probably more mandatory display than some of the above. Fisk plays heavily in this show, such as Maya’s ‘Uncle’. He manipulates her and isolates her like what he did with Dex in season 3 of Daredevil. We do not know how much or or or not Maya will be discussed in Born Remay – but the show is a considerable exploration of who Fisk is.
If you don’t have the time to bind to the entire ultrasound, look at the last scene after the credits-dit will immediately start the process that Fisk will recording again.
As a bonus you could also see Mrs. Marvel, as Kamala Khan’s father Yusuf will appear in the show. However, it is doubtful that your viewing experience of the Daredevil -Revival will be influenced if you skip it.
